Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Shanghai Sorrow & Suspense. DESCRIPTION: FUNERAL OF BRITISH NAVAL VICTIMS - British victims of the Communists bombardment on the Yangtze are buried with full military honours. Captain Cazalet, who was wounded, limps along with the aid of a stick. EVACUATION OF AMERICAN NATIONALS - American nationals are assisted aboard ship to leave Shanghai. SHOTLIST: KS. Royal Marines band slow march precede coffins. Ditto. Religious members in procession. Coffins bearing the dead of the Yangtze incident. Captain Cazalet (on left) walks in procession (Captain of the "London"). Firing salute, rifles don’t actually fire. Elevated GV Shanghai. GV dock area. People evacuate city, boarding American ship. Stretcher case taken aboard. Nuns assist in carrying their own luggage. MS of American ship & same leaving Shanghai.
