Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Australian Floods Recede. DESCRIPTION: Australia’s floods, at Maitland, New South Wales, recede leaving behind nothing but destruction and ruin. SHOTLIST: KS. Aerial of flooded area (New South Wales). Water lashing against the base of houses (wooden). "Dukws" along road inspecting damage. Families live on high bridge, waiting for waters to recede. Various shots hanging out clothes to dry. Husband carries wife into house, still a foot of water. Interior - clothes being distributed, "help yourself" at City Hall. Interior - house, shows lino pulled up, mud underneath. Copper still full water & mud. Sewing machine ruined. Rocking horse hangs from ceiling, entangled in wires. Person holds up broom few inches from ceiling showing how high waters rose. People hang out carpets, clothes on garden fences hoping that they can save some, various shots.
