- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Scientific Experiments. DESCRIPTION: The American Air Force have recently tested an escape for pilots of jets planes by using an ejector seat. We see that the results are successful. Another experiment, shows a projectile being shot into the air to an altitude of 78 miles and aeronautically radios its position back to the ship. SHOTLIST: KS. EJECTOR SEAT - MS jet plane (USAAF). Blown-up material - jet plane in slow motion - ejector seat shot out of plane with dummy pilot. Ditto only with actual pilot of plane - aerial shots. Seat still attached to pilot drops into sea, picked by boat. SLIP-PAN COSMIC RAY - GV naval experiment ship (USA). Covering placed over missile, which reassemble a V2. Wings also attached to same. Missile (rocket) placed in firing position on deck of ship. MS of rocket fired into stratosphere (78 miles up). Naval men watch panel to which rocket radios its position. Another rocket being fired & rising into sky out of camera & disappearing, into clouds.
