- Commentary: A vast audience on the Wolverhampton Wanderers Football Ground assembled to hear Mr Churchill, whose visit coincided with the publication of the Conservative Party’s Policy Statement for the next election, entitled Right Road to Britain. (SPEECH). As he went on to attack nationalisation, he clearly had in mind recent industrial disturbances. Mr Churchill closed with a quotation from a speech made by his father, Lord Randolph, almost 70 years ago. He states that Conservatives believe in the Independence of the Trade Unions, collective bargaining and the right to strike.
