Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Amethyst Homecoming. DESCRIPTION: At the end of the frigate’s journey, Plymouth extend a great welcome to the heroes of the memorable Yangtze incident. SHOTLIST: Aboard "Amethyst" shots of her damage, also some of the crew playing cards. Simon, the cat & the captain. Nearing Plymouth, paying-off pennant hoisted. White Ensign hoisted. Crowds line the quay including wounded of the ship who had been flown home. Ship fast alongside. Distinguished men go aboard, including the First Sea Lord & First Lord, Lord Lieutenant of Devon, the Lord Mayor and the C-in-C Plymouth. First Lord, Viscount Hall addresses crew. Reunion with their wives & relations. Jack French (telegraphist) greets his mother. Leading Seaman Crighton greets wife & mother. CU Ordinary Seaman Bailey with mother and father. Petty Officer Heath with family. SCU Lt Commander Kerens & wife. March through the ruined city. Lord Mayor greets Kerens. Admiral Sir Robert Burnett sums up. Kerens replies to finish.
