- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Christmas Cheer in the ‘City’. DESCRIPTION: An old English custom of Ale Garlands has been revived in the City after a lapse of over a century. The Lord Mayor and his entourage approaches one of the City’s ancient taverns to make sure the beer is worthy of the honour. SHOTLIST: KS. Ale Garland hoisted in front of inn. Fanfare sounded outside inn. Two men knock on door, inn door opened by licensee. He hands them mugs of ale also the Lord Mayor. Garland hoisted & everybody drinks. Inside much merriment going on.
