- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: The Political Situation. DESCRIPTION: It must be a long time since the political scene attracted such keen attention from the people of Britain. Prominent members of the Liberal Party attended their post-election conference. Another meeting at Church House, Westminster, was that of the Parliamentary Labour Party. Public interest was in evidence, when the house met for the first time to re-elect the Speaker. SHOTLIST: KS. GV Big Ben at 2.30 with head of railings in fore. GV Houses of Parliament, traffic in fore. Interior - pan Lord Moynihan, Lord Samuel, Mr Clement Davies, Sir Andrew McFadyen, Lady Megan Lloyd George. Exterior outside Church House, Davies says a few words. Arrivals at Church House, Mr Bevin, Mr Barnes. Into camera, Lord Lawson, Mr Tom O’Brien. Group of Labourites walk into camera. CU Miss Burton, Bessie Braddock. CU Mr RR Stokes. CU Hector McNeil & Mr Gordon Walker. With press around him Mr Maurice Webb (on crutches) says a few words into mike about running the Ministry of Food. Mr Attlee walks up to mike & says a few words. GV Houses of Parliament. Mr Duncan Sandys walks past camera. Mr Churchill drives past in car. SCU panning Dr Hill (Radio Doctor). Mr Attlee drives into Parliament Yard. Tate & Lyle Sugar van driven into yard to finish.
