MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Victoria’s Gold Rush. DESCRIPTION: The quiet Victorian town of Wedderburn (150 miles from Melbourne) has suddenly hit the news with its discovery of gold. The whole amazing story began when Albert Smith discovered a thousand pound nugget; he staked a claim and started digging for the main reef - in the main street. SHOTLIST: KS. MS hairdresser walks out of his shop with spade under his arm. GV high street of Wedderburn. People dig in main street. Various shots of people digging in gardens & sifting earth for gold.
