Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Prince Baudouin Becomes Regent. DESCRIPTION: Belgium’s new regent drove to Parliament to assume the royal prerogatives. In the Chamber, as the Prince was about to take the oath, a communist leader shouts Long live the Republic. The interrupter having been shouted down, the Prince Royal then took the oath. SHOTLIST: KS. Elevated GV as procession of cars drive out of Royal Palace. GV escorts, motor-cyclist, troops line route as procession drive towards Parliament. Prince Royal (Baudouin) alights from car, SCU of him standing by car. Interior - inside Parliament walks and stands in front of rostrum. President of House, M van Cauwelaert addresses House. Shout of "Vive la Republic" as Baudouin is about to take the oath. House applaud Prince, loud applause. Prince then takes the oath. Loud applause. GV of the House standing & applauding.
