MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Saved From the Pit. DESCRIPTION: When Lord Balfour told the waiting crowd that the first of well over a hundred of the trapped miners was coming up, it was good news indeed. Fears for the safety of thirteen missing miners was ever present in the minds of all concerned. SHOTLIST: MS Lord Balfour (Scottish National Coal Board Chairman) speaking to waiting crowd. TS pithead with rescued miners are brought out. GV miner being carried on stretcher. GV a walking miner helped along. GV another stretcher carried past. GV more miners helped along.
