DESCRIPTION: With the announcement from Downing street that Sir Stafford Cripps had resigned his post as Chancellor, came the news that Mr Hugh Gaitskell had been appointed to succeed him. SHOTLIST: KS. Library - MS Cripps, crowds around. Shots of Cripps leaving No 11 for Budget, crowds surge round. Cripps holds up Budget Bag. At London Airport, Gaitskell’s plane taxies, Gaitskell’s wife enters plane, Gaitskell alights with wife. SCU of both. Gaitskell interviewed on resignation of Cripps. Gaitskell & wife arrive at No 10. Cut-in SCU door. Gaitskell poses for cameramen, wife pushes him into No 10. No 11, MS. Cripps walks out & leaves by car for Buckingham Palace. Car arrives & drives into Palace.
