Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Flu Hits Holland. (Isle of Marken Inhabitants Vaccinated). DESCRIPTION: When the Zuider Zee froze over, the little island of Marken was joined to the mainland near Amsterdam, but when the thaw came and broke up the ice, Marken was in danger of complete isolation. Because the ‘flu’ epidemic had already reached Holland, the people of the island made their way to the local doctor’s house to be vaccinated. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS. Ice-yacht across frozen Zuider Zee. Several shots ditto, also ice-yachts speeding across Zuider Zee. Shot while speeding taken from yacht. Various shots lumps of ice after thaw. Dutch women climb over same. Others walk along ice-roads. Some wearing national dress. Arrival at hospital. Dutch take off their clogs. SCU clogs outside building. MS doctor plunging syringe into girl’s arm.
