Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Indian Celebrates Republic Day. DESCRIPTION: To mark the first anniversary of India’s Republic Day, the President (Dr Rajendra Prasad) arrived in state at Kingsway, New Delhi. He was greeted by Sardar Baldev Singh (Defence Minister), and also the Naval and Air Force C-in-Cs. The march-past by token units of India’s fighting services was watched by Mr Nehru. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS. SV - SCU cavalry mounted, one line of them. MS parade passing along road. Arrival of Dr Rajendra Prasad, President, alights greeted by Sardar Baldev Singh, & shakes hands with Service Chiefs. Various shots of marchpast, including tanks, regiments, sailors, RAF, formation of planes (fighters) pass overhead. Nehru seated watching parade, beside him are Mrs Indira Gandhi and her sons - Sanjay and Ravjiv. Camel Corps in procession. Various traditional carriage & scenes on floats in procession. Elephants parade.
