Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Scotland Win International Soccer. 3-2. DESCRIPTION: A crowd of a hundred thousand saw the deciding match in the International Championship at Wembley. An early disaster for England came when Mannion collided with Liddell and was taken off on a stretcher. England fought hard but lost the game by 3 goals to 2. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS. CU Rose, football & thistle. Crowd shots, pans. Duke of Gloucester inspects teams, Scotland first. Billy Wright introduces england team. Kick-off. General play, attacking both ends. Corner kick by Matthews. In penalty area, Mannion & Liddell both jump for ball, Mannion lying on ground, broken jaw etc. Carried off on stretcher. England attack. Elevated MS pass to Hassall on left wing who scores a beautiful goal. Crowds cheering. Scotland attack, Johnstone scores for them. Crowds cheering - Half time. Reilly scores for Scotland. Scots attack, fumble around goalmouth & Liddell scored an easy goal. Crowds. England attack & Finney scores for them. England attack, Mortensen in penalty area shoots just wide of goal. Crowds swarm onto field after game, band marching on. Crowds congratulate players.
