- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: New Marathon Record. DESCRIPTION: There was a big field for this year’s Polytechnic Harriers Marathons Race, which was run from Windsor Castle to Chiswick Stadium. Jack Holden, who won in 1948, ‘49 and 50, had to retire and Jim Peters of the Essex Beagles went on to win. He covered the 26 miles 385 yards in the fastest time ever. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS. Group of runners walk towards camera. GV runners towards camera with Windsor Castle in background. GV runners lined up. CU starter holding up gun. GV start of race. Runners into camera. Various shots passing through villages, towns etc. & on the road. Trucking shot - CU of runner. Trucking - Jack Holden with Cox - No 112. SV-CU Holden running. Entering Chiswick Stadium, Jim Peters, does the circuit & finishing. Crowds clapping. CU of the Trophy. Wing Commanders Lucas presents trophy & congratulates, Peters says hopes to do better with some training.
