Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Abadan Evacuated. DESCRIPTION: Among early arrivals at London Airport from Abadan were members of the British hospital staff. A personal view of the situation was given by the Matron, Miss Dorothy Ridge and one of the Sisters. Also home in Britain were members of the Anglo-Iranian Oil Company - part of the rear guard. One of them gave us his reaction. The story continues at the Security Council meeting in New York, where Sir Gladwyn Jebb has the task of explaining the reason for bringing the oil dispute before the United Nations. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS. MS people walk along wall of refinery. Various GVs of the oil refinery at Abadan, all angles. Night material - Argonaut plane arrives - taxies into London Airport, nurses disembark. SCU & CU Matron Dorothy Ridge, speaking on subject of Abadan. Two sisters of the hospital also speak. Men disembark. Anonymous person speaks his opinion on evacuation of Abadan. America - Security Council, GV seated. CU Sir Gladwyn Jebb. CU ditto speaking about the dispute between GB & Iranian Government. SCU Russian delegate speaking. Interpreter - unseen, says Russian Government have objected.
