Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: The People’s House. DESCRIPTION: Good news from Desford, Leicestershire, where the first two People’s Houses have been completed - these were opened by the Minister of Housing and Local Government, Mr Harold Macmillan. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS. Mr Macmillan walks round house. Stand by door of house. Crowds around him as he (Mr Macmillan) speaks on the housing. CU during speech. Mr Reast, first tenant invites us in. Inside, various shots of the dining room, lounge, kitchen, food hatch, etc. Children play on floor. Exterior - cut-ins of men working on sites, building their own houses.
