Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Canal Zone Latest. DESCRIPTION: Pictures from the Canal Zone - a troopship passing by, while troops held a memorial service for the King. Troops were still arriving in the Zone - some aboard the Vengeance, the carrier herself being on the way to the Far East. Soon afterwards news came of the derailment of a British Army train near Kantara, the train was wrecked but there were no serious casualties. SHOTLIST: Cut story - GV canal. Vengeance passing through canal in background with religious service for King George VI taking place in fore. Cut-in types of troops at service. SCU Vengeance. SCU Destroyer, D-90. Cheviot passing through canal. MS ditto. Various shots of derailed train, blown off track by terrorists. Egyptians mend telephone cable, digging etc. Good Scenes - Egyptian native fishing village, Egyptian mending fishing nets. General views of village. Egyptian boys fish for prawns in Lake Simesh. In the desert - camels with supplies. Sudanese in Egyptian Police Patrol. Sign of Royal Sussex Regiment - CU. Ditto with troops standing beside same. Mobile patrol through streets, in Bren carriers etc. CU - RAF Abyad Station, shots of camp showing the gates with barbed wire reinforcements. Destroyers, D-90 - the Cheviot, Aircraft Carrier Vengeance, shots passing through canal & SCU of her.
