Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Queen’s First Investiture. DESCRIPTION: Buckingham Palace was the scene of the first investiture held by the Queen, who drove with the Duke of Edinburgh from Clarence House. Among the many people receiving awards and decorations was Private Speakman, who was there with his mother, to receive the Victoria Cross. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS. Crowds outside palace. Royal car with Queen & Duke of Edinburgh drives into palace forecourt. Relatives leave palace out through door. SCU three corporals, Martin, McKnight & Wateridge. CU McKnight, with Military Medal. Railway fireman Bowden with his wife displays his George Medal. Speakman ‘VC’ & parents, also Mayor of Altrincham walk across palace forecourt. Outside palace railings, displaying Victoria Cross. CU same.
