Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Coronation Preparations - New Coinage - Procession Rehearsal - Eccles Press Conference. DESCRIPTION: Coins for the new Reign will shortly be turned out in quantity at the Royal Mint. Leaving Westminster Abbey early in the morning, the first Coronation Procession rehearsal. The State landau (drawn by Windsor Greys) proceeded along the return route, accompanied by the household cavalry and guardsmen. At Church House, Westminster, Mr David Eccles (the Minister of Works) held a press conference and a model of the proposed Westminster Abbey Coronation annex was shown. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS. CU Queen’s head on new coin, title fades out. Shots at the Royal Mint showing coins in the making, also various shots of the finished coin. . Dawn at Westminster Abbey, the rehearsal procession leaving, State Landau drawn by Windsor Greys. Into camera, up Whitehall, through Marble Arch, out of Hyde Park. Down Regent Street, across Piccadilly Circus, under Admiralty Arch, along the Mall, shots of the stands being erected. Along Mall with Buckingham Palace in background. Mr Eccles at Church House holds press conference. Eccles looks at model of Westminster Abbey annex, showing also the heraldic beasts. Mr Eccles with a picture of Westminster Abbey explains various things for the great day. Still of the Queen Elizabeth looking out of coach on her drive to Opening of Parliament, with Eccles speech over same.
