Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Queen’s Tour of the Midlands. DESCRIPTION: At Crewe, the Queen and the Duke were welcomed by the Mayor. They were presented to tenants of the Duchy Estates at Crewe Hall. Newcastle-under-Lyme the Queen inspected a RAF Guard Of Honour before leaving for the Wedgewood factory at Barlaston. Her Majesty also visited the pottery firm of Johnson Brothers at Hamley. Stoke City Football Ground was another of the places to be visited by them. At Birmingham they were received by the Lord Mayor, and finished their tour by visiting King Edward’s School where they saw a display of mathematical instruments. Lastly a tour of the Joseph Lucas factory. They were given a rousing farewell. SHOTLIST: CU the Queen and the Duke alight from train and are greeted by Lord Lieutenant Lancaster (Lord Woolton). CUs in Joseph Lucas factory. CU crowded streets as they leave.
