MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Suez Conference. DESCRIPTION: Lancaster House, London naturally attracted quite a crowd on the opening of the Suez. Twenty two nations were represented - only two countries (Egypt and Greece) had declined the invitation to the fateful meeting. SHOTLIST: Various shots of crowds outside Lancaster House. Various shots of flags on cars. Shots of crowds. Selwyn Lloyd arrives, Monsieur Pineau (France) arrives, Mr Menzies (Australia) arrives, John Foster Dulles (America) arrives, Krishna Menon and Mrs Pundit (India) arrives, Mr Shepilov (Russia) arrives. Delegates walk upstairs. Interior shots of conference. CU Dulles. MS Mr Shepilov. MS Selwyn Lloyd seated. Panning shot across conference room. Anthony Eden arrives and is greeted. Eden sits down at table. Speech by Eden. The occasion for calling it must rank among the gravest that any of us have to face since the Second World War.
