- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Collier Birchgrove Park Sinks. DESCRIPTION: The coastal collier Birchgrove Park was in sight of Sydney, when she struck heavy seas during a full gale and had to send out an SOS, seconds later she sank only six miles off the harbour entrance. Ten of the crew lost their lives and four were saved. SHOTLIST: Ship at sea. Various shots of heavy seas. Newspaper poster headlines ‘Ship Feared Sunk: 12 Lost’. Pilot ship Captain Cook puts to sea to search for survivors. Submarine Thorough joins Australian navy minesweepers Cootamundra and Wagga in rescue work. Radar equipped Neptune Bombers take off. Circle overhead.
