MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Premium Bond Draw. DESCRIPTION: On the great day of the big draw, the Electronic Random Number Indicating Equipment (ERNIE) was started up by Mr Ernest Marples, Postmaster General. Lord Mackintosh, National Savings Movement Chairman held up the first number to win a thousand pounds. Among the first winners was Mrs Mabel Crook of Mitcham. Another was Mrs Helen James of Hadleigh in Essex. SHOTLIST: MS Mr Ernest Marples talks to press etc. (silent). Photographers. Side shot Marples and audience. Back shot same. MS Marples presses button. Newsreel cameramen. Side shot girl works machine. Same. CU machine operated. Mr Marples holds up winning number. CU of the winners - Mrs Mable Crook with her husband and daughter and Mrs Helen James.
