Summary
International Athletics at White City, sponsored by the News of the World. A highlight of the first day was the three miles, the winner was Derek Ibbotson. Thelma Hopkins, winning the high jump at 5’4, helped the British women to win their events. On the second day Derek Ibbotson competed in the Invitation Two miles, taking over from the competition, he rapidly increased his lead, coming up to the tape he was 20 yards ahead, to finish in a time of 8 minutes 44 seconds.
