- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Auto Smash Research. DESCRIPTION: Using scientifically constructed dummies with resistance specifications similar to those of human beings, an Aeromedical Field Laboratory in California, prepares to contrive a series of automobile smash-ups. It’s a joint US Air Force, University of California project to devise ways and means of reducing fatalities in automobile accidents. SHOTLIST: GV of cars with dummies seated in them. Cars approach each other and head on collision. Slow motion picture of the crash, cars bouncing up and down etc., MS of car being towed towards brick wall. Crashes into brick wall. Shots of damaged bonnets etc. CU dummies ‘George’ & ‘Arthur’ in wrecked car.
