Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: World Water Speed Record. DESCRIPTION: Lake Coniston, scene of last year’s record of 225.63 and Donald Campbell waited for clam weather conditions. He seized his opportunity, and opened up the jet-propelled Bluebird almost to the limit. 260.107, then coming back without re-fuelling, Bluebird screamed over the lake again, 218.024 this time, and the average was 239.07, nearly fourteen miles an hour faster than last year’s mark.
