Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Mine Disaster. DESCRIPTION: Seventeen Ayrshire miners lost their lives in the disaster at Kames Colliery. All were men of Muirkirk. Eleven others were injured by the pit explosion. The rescue operations involved a two-mile journey along damaged galleries, deep down in the mine. SHOTLIST: Pan from sign Kames Colliery to GV of colliery. LS colliery, shafts etc. LS miners walking about the colliery. MS groups of miners talking. Side shot a man talking to two children. LS rescue team being raised with equipment. Closer same. MS man taking away equipment. LS miners drawing their lamps from the store. GV Kames Colliery.
