MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Exercise ‘Run Aground’. DESCRIPTION: An assault by Royal Marines in helicopters was a dramatic item in Exercise Run Aground. This four-day demonstration, near Portsmouth, was designed to show Staff College students modern methods of amphibious methods: new types of landing vessels and the water-proofing of vehicles. SHOTLIST: LS helicopter comes into land. Closer same. MS Marines step from hovering helicopter which then rises in the air. LS Marines drop. Amphibious craft land. Diff. angle same. LS Marines run from craft. Closer same. MS same. Front shot jeep lands from craft. Another same. MS new type of landing vessel lands. Troops depart from another same. Tank leaves landing craft. Smaller landing craft lands. Pan jeep moves into water. MS tank moves into water. Jeep and gun on move. MS Marines take position. Marines run past camera. Flags flutter in breeze.
