- Summary
- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: General De Gaulle Speaks. DESCRIPTION: The Press gathered in Colombey-Les-Deaux-Eglises, a sleepy little French village, in the hope of getting a word from General de Gaulle. Even Mr Randolph Churchill was there. But the squire of the village was not to be seen. General de Gaulle called a Press conference at the Hotel Palais d’Orsay, in Paris. He said he might be useful to France, because I am not associated with any party...because I am a man, who belongs to nobody, and belongs to everybody. And he pooh-poohed the idea, of becoming a dictatorBefore de Gaulle’s conference in Paris, the crowds had been out again in Algiers. General Salan, the Commander-in-Chief, met Monsieur Soustelle, who’d made a dramatic escape, from France. Monsieur Soustelle is the former Governor of Algeria and a supporter of General de Gaulle. He was greeted with the utmost enthusiasm. SHOTLIST: The Press gathered in Colombey-Les-Deux Eglises, a sleepy little French village, in the hope of getting a word from General de Gaulle.
