- Summary
- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Counter Protest. DESCRIPTION: In Vienna, Hungarian refugees protested against the execution of Imre Nagy, Premier during the Hungarian up-rising. And in Moscow, a demonstration took place to counter the world-wide protests against the execution. They marched to the Federal German Embassy, carrying banners with anti-Western slogans. Little attempt appears to have been made by the Russian police to control this crowd, and there wasn’t much left of the Embassy windows. In various countries, demonstrations at Russian embassies had previously been made: so this stone-throwing in Moscow was a protest against a protest. SHOTLIST: GV crowds.
