Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Report From Down Under. DESCRIPTION: Seen on a lake in New South Wales was a home-made craft: with an aircraft engine for power and a plywood tail-fin for rudder. Half plane, half boat. It might be very useful in flood-rescue operations. Sydney oarsmen, in a dryland tank, had their Winter training. (It is Winter out there). They used special oars with holes in the blades to reduce water resistance to normal, and a coach alongside to check on style. . Dirty weather was the result of a cyclone, four hundred miles off Sydney, and shipping ran for shelter. The Pilot ship Captain Cook stood by for an emergency call. The ferry service, across the harbour, was still operating, but only just. With her decks awash, a fully-laden tanker wallowed in the swell, as she entered port. SHOTLIST: MS home made boat. MS same.
