Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Kariba Dam Report. DESCRIPTION: The first of ten giant transformers for the hydro-electric installation at Kariba, in Rhodesia. On its way to the site, bridges had to be strengthened to carry the weight of 200 tons. The trickiest part of all was delivering the 90 ton transformer into the underground Power Station itself. To ensure the water-flow, new outlets have been opened, high up the dam-wall. Massive progress has been made at Kariba, and blowing-up part of the original coffer dam is part of it.
