Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Pirie Shows How. DESCRIPTION: White City Athletics, sponsored by the Evening News. The women’s hundred yards was won by Dorothy Hyman (number one). Then, the men’s eight eighty, invitation and match (London v Stockholm). This was a masterpiece on running by Brian Hewson. Unbeaten, this season, in international events, he held the lead throughout the race. Now, the three miles. Reed (7) set the early pace, but the lead was often changing. Eldon (number one) was in striking distance with Pirie (3) all the time. Then, in the run home, Gordon Pirie (back in his old form) showed what a real kick at the end the three miles ought to be.
