MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: The Pacific Disaster. DESCRIPTION: The Pacific port on Concepcion in Chile has suffered the worst series of earthquakes in all its history. Details of the damage cannot reveal the extent of the disaster, in which the mounting death roll soars into thousands with hundreds of thousands homeless. The repercussions of disaster in Chile spread far and wide across the Pacific Ocean. Here, at Hilo in Hawaii, some 7,000 miles away, lives were lost and great damage done, when a tidal wave struck.
