Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: New Liner Launched. DESCRIPTION: About to be launched at Clydebank was a new hotel class liner, the 33,000 ton Transvaal Castle. To name her and send her on her way was the task of Lady Cayzer, whose husband is the Chairman of the British and Commonwealth Shipping Company. The new liner can carry about 740 passengers, and will be taking her place in the South African Mail Service of the Union-Castle line. SHOTLIST: GV Transvaal Castle (ship) on launching ground. LS bow of ship. LAS same. LS stern showing propeller. MS Lady Cayzer arriving. MS dockyard workers. GV bottle smashes against side of ship launched. LAS workers.
