DESCRIPTION: Over went a new type of raft from the Destroyer Carron, and over went members of volunteer teams taking part in tests of survival at sea. 200 miles south-west of Ireland, it was blowing a gale and there was a heavy swell. A commercial raft failed to stand up to the weather and became water-logged after about an hour and a half. Then, for another type of raft, a standard Admiralty pattern, this time.
