- Summary
- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: White City Athletics. DESCRIPTION: At the annual AAA Championships, the eight-eighty final proved to be a duel between the West Indies and Eire. West Indian Kerr beat Delaney. His time, 1 minute 51.5. The two-twenty final was won by Jones (number one) who beat the strong competition from Nigeria and Scotland. Jones’ time 21.4. One second day highlight was the pole vault. Ankio (Finland) set a new championship mark, at 14 feet 6. Now the hundred and twenty yards hurdles. It was an Italian win this time. Like other events, the three miles was unlikely to break records on this wintry Summer day! Gordon Pirie’s victory was comfortable and convincing. SHOTLIST: Key scene. MS starter fires gun.
