MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Athens - Flood Disaster. DESCRIPTION: The storm that struck Athens in the hours of darkness was the worst disaster of the kind suffered by the city for years. The deluge of rain that followed the cyclone had flooded most of the low-lying suburbs. Many houses collapsed, thousands were flooded, and many people had been trapped in them.
