- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Record Ko. DESCRIPTION: Our pictures show a Reg King promotion at Nottingham that didn’t last long, Dave Charnley was defending his British, European and Empire lightweight titles against Darkie Hughes, the challenger from Cardiff. By winning in 40 seconds (including the count), Charnley had set a British championship record for brevity. It beat Tommy McGovern’s 45 second knock out of Billy Thompson in 1951.
