Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Goodwood Car Racing - Stirling Moss Crash and Sky Diving. DESCRIPTION: There was sky-diving as well as motor racing at Goodwood, and parachutes opened after a 30-second free fall, with most of the landings happy. Competitors for the Glover Trophy included top ranking motor racing stars Stirling Moss, Innes Ireland, John Surtees and Bruce McLaren. For lap after lap, the pace was very hot. Then, it happened, Stirling Moss (in a Lotus Climax) had gone slap off the track and received serious head injuries. The race was eventually won by Graham Hill at an average of over 102 miles and hour. SHOTLIST: Small aircraft. Single men jump from plane for free fall dive. Various parachutists land. Various close-ups of drivers - Stirling Moss, Innes Ireland, John Surtees and Bruce McLaren. Starter’s flag down for start of race. Various shots of race in progress. Shots of Moss’s wrecked car - Moss being put onto stretcher. Graham Hill wins race and receives trophy. Graham Hill was driving a BRM, Bruce McLaren was driving a Cooper Climax, Stirling Moss was driving a Lotus Climax.
