- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Giants of Steel. DESCRIPTION: The first giant is the Menihek Lake, specially built to carry cargoes along Canada’s St Lawrence Seaway. One of her many jobs is to transport iron-ore from the mines in the East to the steel mills of Cleveland, USA. She can carry 25,000 tons a trip. The journey which takes in Quebec, lasts for over 4 days and nights, and covers over a thousand miles. SHOTLIST: Ship called the Menihek Lake is a new iron ore carrying cargo ship. Ship leaves Quebec for Cleveland. Various shots of ship through canals and locks. Scenes on board ship including the helmsman. Ship at unloading bay. Massive cranes drop into hold of ship and unload 25,00 tons in seven hours. GV works with liner in background. MS conveyor belt. LS same. GV same place. LS transporter boat. LS same. GV another boat.
