Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Through the Outback (Colour). DESCRIPTION: You’ve heard of High Street Africa? Well, here’s it’s Australian counterpart. Tennant Creek, a tiny stopping-place along the road to Darwin. The Royal visit was the first time in the Creek’s history the pubs have been closed. On to easy-going Darwin the most northerly and remote of all the state capitals. The Royal visitors attended a corroboree, held traditionally just before the start of the monsoon - or ‘the wet’ as it’s called hereabout. They watched the Kangaroo Dance, performed by boys from a Mission Station. Another memorable highlight - a rodeo at the Darwin show grounds. SHOTLIST: Key scene (fade in).
