Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Rugby League - Widnes Win Cup. DESCRIPTION: Widnes were back at Wembley for their 9th final. They met Hull Kingston Rovers, who made their first appearance, hoping to win the trophy for the first time. The New Look Wembley with all seats under cover, now offers a new luxury: the restaurant where you can celebrate a goal as its being scored, or enjoy food along with football! Down on the pitch, the match got under way when Rovers kicked off. Widnes showed their Cup potential and signs of scoring. They opened it 6 minutes before half time. At the change over, Widnes were two points up. Frank Collier scored the last try. He was later to receive the Lance Todd Trophy as the outstanding player of the game. So, for the third time in their history, Widnes have won the Rugby League Challenge Cup, which the Earl of Derby presented to Vince Karalius, their skipper.
