Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Nelson Collection. DESCRIPTION: Started in 1947 by American Mrs McCarthy, this is the largest collection of Nelsonian items in the world and its been given to the Royal Navy. It includes books, paintings, letters and prints. SHOTLIST: GV HMS Victory. MS bow of Victory & Union Jack pan alongside of Victory. MS side of Victory with open gun ports. MS interior model of HMS Victory in exhibition. CU pan along notice England expects...MCU portrait on Nelson pan down to titles. MCU print of Nelson aboard ship, caption Nelson’s first footing in the Navy, Chatham notice beneath Horatio joins first ship in Spring 1771. Ship HMS Raisonnable was commanded by Nelson’s uncle, Captain Suckling and was then at Chatham. 1st rate warship in left background may have been HMS Victory which was also on the Medway at the same time, angle shot sign Man of the Mediterranean 1792-1796. MCU 3 prints, map of Battle of the Nile, 1st of August, 17??. Map Bonaparte and Admiral de Bruey. CU book of ships and battles 1793 - 1805. Angle shot sign Battle of Cape St Vincent 14th Feb 1797. CU portrait of Lady Hamilton. CU letter of Lady Hamilton dated 24 December 1803. MCU pan from print of Nelson & Wellington to print of Admiralty.
