- COI synopsis: Derek Ibbotson first learned to run on his native Yorkshire moors, where his still trains. The film shows the world record-breaking Invitation Mile at London’s White City Stadium in 1957, when his time of 3 minutes 57.2 seconds brought him the title of ‘The Fastest Man in the World’. Sequences show him in training, and relaxing in domestic surroundings with his wife, herself, as Madeleine Wooler, an international runner. Winner of a Grand Silver Medal at the International Festival of Sporting Films, Cortina, 1960.
