- Summary
- COI synopsis: Stanley Matthews of Staffordshire, eighty times an English Soccer International, began learning his extraordinary ball-control as a boy on a strip of ground in the shadow of the pottery-kilns. This accounts of his career uses film records of memorable games to pinpoint examples of his skill and craftsmanship on the football field. He is also seen receiving the CBE (the first footballer to be thus honoured); and in Ghana, being crowned ‘King of Soccer’. Winner of a Grand Silver Medal at the International Festival of Sporting Films, Cortina, 1960.
