- NoS Summary - women wearing trousers as mechanics, walking, horse riding and running.
NoS synopsis: "Strictly between ourselves, all the trouble over the emancipation of women began when Eve adopted trousers. In Champery, Switzerland, the ladies all wore them." M/S of Swiss women walking through a mountain village all wearing work wear - trousers and jackets. The women all hold walking sticks. M/S of two of the women, the jackets button up with lots of small buttons. The women wear headscarves. "And Mary the Mechanic did likewise." A woman moves down the side of scaffolding by means of a pulley system. Looks like she is very high up. She waves at the camera. View of the scene below her - industrial scene. "Eve soon found out that skirts were a hindrance when training horses." M/S of a woman breaking in a horse. Various shots of the horse rearing up and running around the woman on a training rope. "This is really a he-woman’s job!" We see the woman in the saddle, the horse is still a bit flighty. "Even trousers shortened when Eve got going across country." M/S of group of girls on a cross country run. They wear shorts and sports tops. They jump over a ditch. "And football too, makes pants shorter - !" M/S of a girls’ football team running towards the camera with their arms around each others’ shoulders. Shot of a game in progress. - Researcher Comments
