British Pathe synopsis: M/S of a woman standing at a table in the open air using a small spinning wheel. M/S of an elderly woman with a small child by her side. The woman is making lace, she has a cushion on her lap with lots of bobbins hanging down from it. Closer shot of the woman tatting with the child by her side. "Pillow lace" received its name from the "pillow" used to hold the pins on which the pattern is executed." C/U of the pins with cotton and bobbins attached. Woman’s hands move very quickly as she makes the lace. Extreme C/U of the pins which are inserted into a piece of card with holes in that marks out the pattern. "All you need is fast and accurate fingering - and about 40 years’ experience!" Various C/Us of the lace taking shape. "Today, the lace is used frequently on those dainty lace sunshades." Panning shot showing C/U of the lace. C/U of a parasol being opened to show the lace. "There are 40 yards of lace on this "shade" reads an intertitle. The parasol is turned. - Keywords
