Summary
NoS Summary - Fun and games on deck of a pleasure liner.
British Pathe synopsis: "There’s nothing hazy about this picture - Eve is having a strenuous sporting time during a Mediterranean trip." Four women on board a cruise liner have a race. They run along the deck picking up balls, running back and putting them into buckets. "Take your choice - you’ve got to get a little sport somehow to keep down your figure." High angle shot of a game of deck quoits. M/S of men and women - mostly dressed in white - playing the game. Panning shot of people on deck chatting. Another game is played with a net - the players seem to be throwing a small ball at each other. "Another little game - Racehorses." Women hold on to metal contraptions to which a handle is attached, they wind the handle furiously and we see that little wooden race horses are attached. They pull them along the deck. "And we mustn’t omit the "Orontes" deck "pool." L/S of the swimming pool. High angle shot of the tiny pool. There are several life belts in the pool. Three women sit on a metal bar watching the swimmers. Various shots of swimmers and spectators. Top shot of two women sitting on the deck in swimsuits. "A game that becomes a little unbalanced - " A pole is suspended across the pool. Two women in swimsuits straddle the pole and hit each other with inflated bags. One falls off into the pool. Tilt up to show large crowds watching the game. Closer shot of one of the combatants. Another girl is knocked into the pool. C/U of one of the swimmers smiling at the camera as she sun bathes. "Another one, too, that ends swimmingly - " Another strange game takes place - two girls have small poles hooked under their legs and they sit on a raft trying to knock each other in - a kind of leg wrestling. M/S of the passengers watching.
